Project Success provides youth with and without disabilities the opportunity to work together in the community. My 16 year old brother has Down Syndrome, and he’s one of the most important people in the world to me. He and his peers struggle with inclusion and acceptance, but you’ll never see a smile leave his face.
Thankfully, he’s met some amazing people who include him in his millions of hobbies and talents, from playing the saxophone in his high school band (and learning to sight-read music!) and managing the football team to swimming on the neighborhood swim team. Continuing to educate about individuals with disabilities is the best way to encourage inclusion and acceptance, which is all anyone wants for their loved ones, especially during the perilous years of high school.
